Brusheezy – Download Free Photoshop brushes and patterns.

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Happy New Year! I have one day left and I had to get something posted before February, busy as I’ve been.

I went to this site and became all giddy with the shear number of Photoshop brushes available for download. I’m loving the following: “splatters”, “fractals”, and “flowery” (I’m confident in my manhood).

The Visual Design of Web 2.0

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

A fun piece that discusses the visual trends being applied to web site. I admit, I’ve been guilty of rounding a few corners, adding a reflection to a couple of graphics and crafting a few “glassy” buttons. But I’m not ashamed of it…

Wired News: Flash Turns 10

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

I tried the first version of Flash, “Smart Sketch” and thought it was amazing. It was considered a user-friendly version of Illustrator but it tended to produce overly complex vector images. I set it aside, continuing to use Illustrator.

Then came FutureSplash Animator. I was part of the animation team where I worked, so I was always trying to find something new and cool and this program filled the bill. I thought it was amazing that you could zoom in and out without having to basically redraw each frame (which we were used to doing). Throw in the ability to view these animation on the web and I knew this little company would do great things.

Happy birthday, Flash!

Cold, Hard Flash: Flash animation news and links

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

A revised blog site for fans of Flash animation (like me!). The fine folks of drawn.ca describe it as follows…

Flash users of the world rejoice! Cold Hard Flash, the best resource on the net for all things Flash animation related, has been given a redesign. The site, run by the all knowing Aaron Simpson, who has had an extensive career as an animation producer and is currently working at everyone’s favorite studio, JibJab Media, has big plans for the site. There is a newly added Community section plus interviews with the Brothers Chaps from Homestar Runner and prolific animator Steve Whitehouse on the way. Plus, if you happen to be in Austin in September, you can catch Aaron speaking at Flashforward.
